Only for true fans of dragonball. Did you know that Dragon Ball Super, the most current saga of the franchise, fixed a detail that Akira Toriyama criticized the anime from 1997? We know, it’s a long time but it’s never too late to do things right, especially when we talk about Goku, one of the most beloved anime characters in the world.
Toriyama admitted in an interview with WIRED Japan that he was disgusted with the anime’s portrayal of Goku. dragonball and Dragon Ball Zbecause Toriyama designed Goku as someone who only wants to fight against the most powerful warriors and not a “fair hero” as he appears in the animated version of Toei Animation.
Goku has not stopped being a good person in both the anime and the manga, but originally he was not someone made to be a superhero with a sense of duty and safeguard the Earth from the threats of the universe. In the manga, Goku saves the Earth as a result of his desire to fight with the most powerful villains, but it is not that it was his intention from the beginning.
just in Dragon Ball Super We notice that Goku abandons the figure of the “fair hero” to become a Goku more similar to the original manga that is only dedicated to fighting against the most powerful beings.
In the Tournament of Power, for example, Goku understood that he had to save his own universe, and he didn’t want to see other universes destroyed, but his mind was much more dedicated to the excitement of fighting against the most powerful warriors. He even ignored Whis and Beerus’ warnings and spoke directly to Grand Zeno to satisfy his own selfish desires to fight exceptional opponents.
As the Tournament of Power progresses and universes are destroyed, Goku actually enjoys the fights excited by the thrill of surviving and exceeding his own limits… at the cost of billions of lives.
Only the Tournament of Power saga is proof enough to understand that Goku has no contemplations and is far from being a hero as he was in the anime. dragonball and Dragon Ball Z.
